Stories That Live Beyond Stone
The Bethany Veterans Plaza will be a place of remembrance — but remembrance is more than names carved in bronze.
Service is lived in letters sent home.
In uniforms folded away.
In quiet stories told at kitchen tables.
In sacrifices that shaped families and this community.
Part of the Plaza’s design includes historical letters and materials discovered right here in Bethany — pieces of lived history that connect us to earlier generations.
But memory does not stop in the past.
We are building a living archive.

The Digital Side of the Plaza
Not every story can be engraved in stone.
That’s why the Bethany Veterans Plaza will include a digital component — a growing collection of stories, reflections, interviews, and photographs from veterans and their families.
This digital archive will:
- Preserve personal histories across generations
- Allow families to share stories in their own words
- Include short video interviews and written reflections
- Create a fuller, more human picture of service in Bethany
The physical Plaza will anchor remembrance.
The digital archive will allow it to grow.
Help Us Tell the Story of Service in Bethany
We are currently collecting:
- Written memories or reflections
- Letters from service members
- Photographs (past or present)
- Short video interviews (we can help record these)
- Names and brief service summaries
- Stories from family members
Physical and Digital — Working Together
The Plaza will always be a physical place — bronze, stone, landscape, and gathering space.
But its full story will live both in the ground and online.
Together, they form one commitment:
To remember fully.
To tell the story honestly.
To honor service not just symbolically — but personally.
